What Is Asphalt Mill and Overlay?

Mill and overlay is a pavement rehabilitation process that removes a portion of the existing asphalt surface and replaces it with new hot-mix asphalt.

During milling, specialized equipment removes the deteriorated upper layer of pavement to create a properly prepared surface. The milled area can then be cleaned, repaired as necessary, and resurfaced with new asphalt.

Unlike a complete asphalt replacement, mill and overlay allows suitable portions of the existing pavement structure to remain in place.
